As much water as Lake Buchanan has this year compared to the last several, I'm just wondering how the white bass spawn will turn out this year? Any reports? It's a little early but, I'm betting this will start up soon. I hope to see y'all out there in a few weeks.

tight lines!

It's been forever since I've fished this place. I need to make it out there at least once this year.

It should be a good year out there this year. My parents live in Lampasas. I might just have to bring the gear, and haul them out there when I go to visit next time. The ride alone is beautiful. I hope the weather stays warm.

I'm heading up there tomorrow morning on a scouting trip. Taking my flyrod, and my daughters ul spinning rod. Hope to get into something, but tomorrow will tell.

Well it still s a little early. There seems to be a small number of small males. Water is up more than I expected and for super bowl Sunday rather crowded. Most on the trails, but there were a few boats and kayaks out on the river. I started out upstream from the Park HQ. what I used to call the rocky ripples in the years past. Landed a few whites, a LMB, and a couple of perch. All on my fly rod and a white and chartreuse clouser. I broke my fly rod about an hour into it,switched to my daughter's ul spinning rod and headed down below the boat ramp. Remained fishless the rest of the morning.

I was also there on Super Bowl Sunday afternoon with my wife and my parents. we got there around 2pm. several boats and kayakers in the water. All were trolling back and forth. I didn't see anyone with fish. We fished by the boat ramp for an hour or two. (1st pic) Nothing. The water look good. I didn't bring my yak or bass buggy so I was stuck on the bank. I had my waders with me but this water looked too deep. I guarantee you if one of them boaters were catching... I would have donned those waders and tried to get out there. LOL.

I saw a few 18ft bass boats launched on this ramp. So there shouldn't be any problems launching your boats. The park also had kayaks for rent. I didn't ask how much, but several people showed up and rented some. We were fishing close to the ramp. several times, boats and yaks floated near our fishing poles. One boater almost hooked his kids with our fishing lines when he drifted in our area. He apologized for tangling up our lines. no harm no foul. So, we decided it was time to move.

Then we went upstream from there (2nd pic) and caught 5 dinks using thinner minnows from Bad Bob's Store. Bad Bob's minnows are expensive but the only store bought minnows around. There were people wad fishing in this area. One man had about 4-5 whites. It looked more shallow than by the ramp. But we stuck to the bank in our chairs. We brought a picnic lunch too. It was a beautiful day. I'll be back soon.

tight Lines!

I always go upstream from the park entrance...far less boats and people to dodge. Probably time for a recon trip!

Heading up to the park on Thursday and wondering if the river will be fishable or not. Looking at the upstream gauges around Goldwaithe and Brownwood and they show quite a bit of water headed downstream. That water should hit Bend Tomorrow and Thursday. Could bring a bunch of fish up or screw the fishing up completely. Its anybody's guess at this point.

We had some good rains around Austin too. i imagine the rivers around here are up a little. It's hard to tell about how the fishing will be until you're on the water. then you'll know.

I've been home sick this week looking outside at the beautiful weather wishing i was out there.

tight lines all!

I know some of you guys are tearing them up out there. Maybe you're too busy catching than writing about it here. I'll take that as a sign. LOL
