Kind of a weird object to target. Not real easy to conceal as you're driving away. Takes some time to get unbuttoned from the truck and button it to your truck. Most are pretty identifiable, especially when they have stickers and custom rigging. Kayak community is small, so it would be hard to sell locally and harder, maybe not even worth the effort, to try and sell out of state.
Glad they're caught. Ballsy, stupid idiots. Most dedicated petty thieves ever. If I were a theif putting that much work into stealing. I'm going an Ocean's 11 type route.

When I read "Kayak Theft Ring", I expected a different twist because 3 nights ago: A friend lives a few miles north of me, waterfront property on Ray Hubbard. He showed me video of an intruder approaching his patio door just after midnight. It was a cold, windy, 40 degrees. My friend hears the perimiter alarm, jumps up, gets his torch flashlight and handgun and goes out to greet the intruder. He blinds him with the torch, and the intruders arms go up and he freezes. My friend tells him he is trespassing and to leave. The intruder says he is lost and looking for the 66 bridge. My friend points to the lake and tells him to get going. So the intruder walks back down to his KAYAK and shoves off.
The next day, in talking about it we surmised he was a thief using a kayak to make his getaway perhaps. Well, later that day one of my friends neighbors told him that the same late night kayaker knocked on his door at 1:30 am saying he was lost again. The cops came out and it turns out the kayaker was legit. Just kept getting lost in the dark. The cops helped him get home.
Who kayaks on a windy lake in January at midnight and after?

Who kayaks on a windy lake in January at midnight and after? That's absurd. The guy is doing something nefarious.

Just one more cast!

I agree that they didn't have anything to arrest him on and had to let him go. Matter of time until Bob finds out what it is. Ridiculous that someone would be kayaking at night on a huge lake in January. Kind of mind blowing.

I didn't know these PBP (plastic boat people) were all such a bunch of criminals. I am here to let y'all know I am going to do my part. I will detain, search and water board every one of these PDP that I find. This will stop.

Mine has six holes in it already. Still floats. That's kinda how they work.

We will have some conference calls this week, and we will propose a new solution.
