I think its my casting motion to try to get the farthest fast I can get.... I am starting to lose confidence in braid and go back to fluro.

what lb test would you use for jigs.. 1/2oz and less.

Would y'all recommend using 15-20lb braid to 12lb fluro leader for crankbait/senko rod setup? I am currently using straight 12lb fluro but I hate the memory it has on a bait caster.

^^^^This and another trick on braid that I do is tie your tag line in a few knots as close to your main knot as possible then cut the access off, keeps from any slipping.

Or tie a double palomar.

I would stick with your 12lb fluoro for both of those baits, depending on water clarity. It shouldn't have that bad memory, what line are you using? Also I dont know if I would use the same rod for crankbaits and senkos... Two different styles of fishing.

Using seagar. I love that line but I spooled it about a month go and now I need to respool. I eventually want to get another setup. I have one jig set up with 20lb braid 17lb Fluor leader and my straight fluoro12lb crankbait rod.

Tie a double uni with 8-10 twist when using light braid it won't slip. Super glue is for people who don't tie the correct knots lol. For texas rigs if your going to throw them on braid I would go with 40lb sufix 832 with a 15lb floro leader. On frogs and other top waters like buzzbaits, buzz frogs, spooks and whopper ploppers 50lb braid will get the job done.

Here is one way to remove the memory, but you have to do it before each fishing trip. Secure the end of the line to a tree or car, walk the line out until it is completely unspooled, give it a firm hard tug to remove the memory, then spool it back in. It could be a tedious chore if you have a lot of rods.

Seaguar is great stuff. That is good line, guess just use line conditioner. I don't use any on mine but, can't hurt. Those two rods can cover a lot of stuff. If I'm you I'm flipping on the braid to fluro set up and crankin on the 12lb straight stuff. Sounds like that's what you're doing. Hope the move from Cali is treating you well!

I have previously suggested not going below 30# for braid on a baitcaster. It gets very supple, and a "wind knot" (supple line looping around a guide frame) can bring the lure to a sudden stop, at which point the braid snaps at the guide. This releases it and the line feeds out with the angler possibly not understanding what just happened. This is why some newer guides are slanted forward - they help avoid wind knots with braid.

Braid at 30-40# is still slimmer than a mono you might otherwise be using. It has more body and isn't as prone to wind knot. Thicker line also gives a bit more leeway before abrasion failure - pound test isn't the only metric to consider in choosing line. I join mono & fluoro to a braid main line successfully with a slightly modified blood knot learned from a pro years ago. (The braid always gets about 10 wraps while the other line will get less.)

Some say that a double uni-knot should be used, and some line manufacturers support this approach. I prefer the blood knot as the tags face the side rather than along the line. I've never had a modified blood knot failure - so far.

Ill stick to what I have been using. Maybe get another rod with this tax money lol. The move to Texas has been great! I am loving it out here, only thing is the weather. Los Angeles weather spoiled me lol My parents asked if I was going move back home to Cali, I told them nah I'm good.

question about line conditioner - how often should you spray it on your line? each morning? 3 times a day? once a month? what seems to work best for everyone?
