well it,s decision time it,s 5:45 and i am the one who has to make the decision taking 2 other guys fishing this morning. i can go to lewisville or rr but i would rather go to the nolan or up the brazos from kimball bend. that place is beautiful and you can always get out of the wind. it is closer to me and i like to troll rapalas this time of year. but the question is are there any fish. i remember years ago just having a blast fishing there. i know there were fish in the nolan but that could be over. any help?

I haven't been down there this year yet. I thought about going this weekend. Has anybody been lately?

We put in a Kimball Bend a week ago today and caught about 60-70 fish. Went back on Sunday and probably only caught 10-15. This weather is not helping!!!!

Old Birdeye,
I was down there the weekend before last. We caught about 50-60 fish and only 20 keepers. A lot of small fish in the 7"-9" range!
We caught about 20 fish real early on roadrunners of various colors and later in the day we had to switch to live shad to get any more.
The river was VERY, VERY crowded with about 10-15 boats and 20-30 people on foot. The bank fisherman were making it tough as they were wading around stirring the water up and in general making a lot of commotion.
I left the Nolan and ran up the Brazos to only catch 2 small sandies and 1 crappie at paint rock. Nothing else caught above there. Going up the Brazos, Cedar Bluff is about as far as you can make it in anything less than a jon boat or kayak/canoe.
The fishing had been great the previous 3-4 weeks catching 100-175 fish per trip with a lot of sows.
If anyone goes, have fun and be safe!
On a sidenote, be sure you are completely legal. The Game Wardens were out in force and I saw several tickets handed out. Be sure your game/deer log is filled out if you harvested any deer/turkey as I saw 3 tickets given for this.

I love that spot, but haven't been in quite a while.

I took your advice, Ross and didn't go down there. I ended up fishing for Black Bass on a private pond on Sunday. I may go down there this weekend if it rains this week. There's another post on here that says it was pretty poor on the Nolan on Saturday due to clear water. Thanks for the information.
