I was out with Dannie Golden last year in the spring and this topic came up. A few years back when they did stock the lake he was onsite. He offered to help show them some good areas to go drop the fingerlings so they would stand a better chance of survival with the cover. The declined his help, drove out to the center of the lake and dumped them there. Dannie said they basically fed the sandbass. So if that's their method of stocking, I don't see that helping No, that's not their method of stocking. According to TPWD's fish stocking procedures manual, largemouth bass "Fry and fingerlings should be stocked from a boat into the best available inshore habitat (vegetated areas are preferred)." Then I guess one of the best know guides on the lake, Dannie Golden, is a liar.....

Whether the guidelines were followed or not is not the issue.

I would believe Dannie. I saw TPWD stock RR several times. Ranged from flooded vegetation when lake was up in Buck Creek to wide open lake by State Park.
Some people go to church and think about fishing. Some go fishing and think about God.

It would be more beneficial to RR if they implemented a slot rather than stock it. As long as lake level stays up there is plenty of protection for a good spawn and shad production. That is evident from the most recent spawn. I see people keeping multiple 6 pounders to put to the grease. Just my opinion.
