Hey all you BP makers. Anyone have pros or cons on using Crepe Myrtle prunings.
"The first men that our Saviour dear did choose to wait upon Him here, blest fishers were; and fish the last food was, that He on earth did taste: I therefore strive to follow those, whom He to follow Him hath chose." -- The Compleat Angler, Izaak Walton

Too soft of wood and will deteriorate in a few months. Not good for all the work involved.

Love crepe myrtles. They are a hardwood, last for years and hold fish. My oldest pile has been out for six years and didn't need refreshing until last summer. I usually tie two large branches together. The photo the size of branch I use.

Retirement best job ever.

I have used them for years and they will last longer than willows and hold crappie. I am needing to trim that tree in my yard in the next couple of weeks so that means another good crappie spot.

Lol I cant tell you how many of these limbs I have pulled up with the braid...obviously, there are some folks that like them for BP's...Bois D Arc, really works well....will dull a chainsaw blade quick though.

There's 20 outside of a subdivision in Tyler. They are very mature and I have been dreaming about sinking them in a Lake somewhere

I just 'seasonally trimmed' my crepe myrtles back and dropped the 6-8ft stalks off the bulkhead for some spring crappie spawn action. They will work.
Rod & Reel PB: Blue Cat 53 lbs/12 lb test, Flathead Cat 78 lbs/20 lb test, Channel Cat 17 lbs 12 lb test, Texas common carp 40 lbs/12 lb test, White crappie 2.8 lbs, Black crappie 2.3 lbs all Lake Conroe
