Wanted to head to Fork the 3rd weekend in May to wet a line and just plain relax. But, they re having the Annual Legend of Lake Fork Open Bass Tournament that same weekend. (http://www.legendoflakefork.com/) The link was not meant as a plug so my apologies. I'm willing to bet there will be easily a couple hundred other boats and that's just too much for me and i kind of just didn't want to get in others way.
So..... I'm thinking of either Rayburn or Texoma. Ive never fished either location so recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also looking for lodging suggestions. I have spent a decent amount of google time looking at cabins etc and most seem ok. I want to spend a couple 3 days at that location so a boat slip is a must as well as it being fairly secure.

thanks in advance for any suggestions offered.

If you've never fished Rayburn you have to make a trip. It and Toledo Bend are the Holy Grail of bass fishing.

Lots of awesome places listed on www.vrbo.com

I'd go to Rayburn if there's not a big tournament out there. If you go to Texoma the fishing should be good also, just not Rayburn level good.

If your scared of a couple hundred boats on fork you would really hate Rayburn or toledo. 400 boat tourneys every weekend lately and that's not counting the weekenders. It won't be quite as bad in may but it will still be packed

Go to Rayburn or Toledo, 112k and 180k acre lakes, plenty of water for 5000 boats.

With all the tournaments going on at Rayburn, I'd vote for toledo.

If you have allergies, don't come to Rayburn.

Thanks, Billy

If you like the pine trees and dark green fish from East Texas then Rayburn. I see you are from Temple and Texoma is a lot like Belton just much bigger. It has a lot of deep water and rock cliffs with lots of different species(SM,LM,spots, white bass, striped bass)that can be caught in the same area on just a few baits. Both are great places to fish, both are big and get bigger when the spring wind blows.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

500 HS teams will be on Rayburn Saturday. Just sayin'.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.
