What are those black or dark colored fish darting around in Lake Athens? Looks and acts almost like Tilapia, about 12 inches long and going too fast to ID. I was seeing the crazy things hauling azz toward the boat and out of sight just below the surface. Hopefully just giant Black Crappie.

No idea what they are, but I do know that Athens has a good population of BIG sunfish/redears.

Wow...if those are redear I may have to try and catch some of them. Those things could wreck some ultralight tackle and be some good eatin.

That has to be what they are. In my whole life I've never seen bream the size of those

I've seen guys fly fishing out there before. I see now why they do it.
The ones I saw swimming around in there were twice that size. And that's a biggun.
