 Bass Fishing In Abilene?

Going to Abilene this weekend to visit family. Curious...are there any good public lakes/ponds for bass? Was up there Thanksgiving and fished Phantom and Kirby lakes...but had no luck. Even fished for trout at Grover Nelson, nothing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated...I'm up there at least 6 times a year.
