Whats the best swimbait rod around $100 that's not 8ft long? Trying to throw a 4-5oz bait. Thanks in advance.

St. Croix Bass X You could check out the Bass X BXC710HF. These rods are pretty sweet and are brand new to the market. For only $110, they're pretty light and sensitive. Check 'em out.

Most of the entry level swimbait rods are $110.00-$130.00, like the St. Croix mentioned above, the Okuma Guide Select Swimbait rod or the Daiwa DX swimbait rod. The new ONE3 Defy Black is $80.00 but is an 8 footer. Plus being new, I haven't heard any reports/reviews yet. A lot of anglers give up on this tactic pretty quickly, not wanting to trade quality for quantity, so I would check the classifieds and auction sites for a really good deal first. If there is a little more budget, the iRod Genesis swimbait rod is an excellent choice for about $150.00 new.

If that is your budget it will be tough to beat the Daiwa DXSB as mentioned above. Comes in 4 models up to a weight rating that can handle any swimbait on the market. www.daiwa.com

Yep! $20 over your budget but better than many swimbait rods twice that price!

Mojo Bass, Dobyns Fury, Daiwa DX, Okuma Guide Select Daiwa DX is your best for throwing the biggest baits comfortably in that price range. Ive tossed around a Roman Made Mother on the DX and it wasnt "THAT" bad lol

4 to 5 ounce? I'm not familiar with this technique. Are you fishing the A rig or just a heavy jig head?

I got a $60 BPS IMG Graphite 7'6" X-heavy (I think that's correct). Works great for 3-6 ounce baits and a fraction of the price of others.
