Yes you can use a smaller 12 volt battery. The kayak guys use a small 12 volt battery to run there fish finders out on the water. You can just youtube kayak fishfinder battery.

I want to be able to power on my Helix 7 at home while my boat is in my storage. I've ordered an extra power cord, but I really don't want to keep a full size 12 volt batter in my house. Are there other options for powering up my unit? A smaller lawnmower battery for instance or even plugging it into an electrical outlet?
Thanks for any and all input and suggestions. http://www.shut-up-and-fish.com/humminbird-gcbk-portable-7amp-battery-charger-p-22193.html

I have a 12volt 10ah sealed lead acid battery for my kayak that will run my Hook 5 for many hours. You can get by with a 7ah battery just won't power it as long.

That will work just fine. I have a similar one except mine also has a cigarette lighter plug in addition to the terminals.

No we sold all we had after posting it here. When an item sells out it goes away on the site and will return when back in stock.
We should have more in late this week or early next week.

Precision NMEA0183 GPS Receiver with Heading Sensor Got a question about the GPS with heading sensor. Are 1197 units compatible with this GPS? I tried on both 1197's I have. Neither sensed it. Hooked it to my Helix 10 and it works. Not sure what my version of software is. Maybe an update to make it work? Thanks

I just saw that promo. It looks more like Onix than Helix. Is this supposed to be an Onix replacement?

Hey Guys, I have a 1198si, when I am in map mode following an old route I put it on 200 magnification through a tricky stump area, but after a few seconds it zooms back out automatically 1000, any reason for this? is it a setting I accidentally set or a malfunction? Thanks
