I would love to read the detailed study that was done by the TPWD on waco and LBJ. I can think of dozens of questions that should have answers learned during the 2 year study. I will try to find the detailed info, if I find it I will share it.
on a seperate note, I dont know that TPWD have ever stocked crappie in any texas lakes, so it sounds like from the article, they were more or less trying to learn how to get better sampling of the fish already in the lake by tracking movements. I know that on some deep water lakes, they have no idea what the population is, because netting and electro fishing is inneffective.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I think crappie are very susceptible to barometric pressure, more than any other species of fresh water fish in the south.
I have always caught the most crappie on extended days where everything remains the same. Temp, wind speed & direction, and pressure. The dog days of summer is about the only time that weather is consistent like that.
The spawn is great but not when I will consistently put fish in the boat.

Thanks to you guys that shared this info. I am very pleased to be a member of this forum because it contains so many thoughtful people that share info on fishing. What I have observed about crappie is pretty much the same as that stated by Spiderman. I love fishing year round for crappie and find that I catch em most of the year. Summertime seems to be my most productive period. Really appreciate this forum!

How long after changes does it take for fish to become more comfortable and start biting steadily? If it's rising for .02/hr for 5 hours then steady for 3 hours.....etc.
