What one do you own or would you want to buy and why? I looked at the Traegers but am leaning towards the Cabelas or Camp Chef model since they have a built in meat thermometer and get up to 500 degrees

I've been a stick burner for years but finally broke down and bought a Traeger. I added the Traeger to my lineup so I could have something to cook my Q on days when I was too busy to tend a fire. I have to say so far I'm very impressed! I bought the Traeger Century 22 at Costco for 699 and it came with a cover. No complaints so far.

Very nice. How long have you had the Traeger? Any issues at all with it?

If you are going to spend $700 get a good Kamodo grill. Why spend $700 on just a smoker when you could have a smoker, wood fired oven, and grill all in one?

I'm looking to add one too and I've narrowed it down to Green Mountain Grills or a Rec Tec. I'm actually leaning more toward GMG as they can connect to Wifi in order to control the temp remotely.

I have a GMG and love it. Easy and simple plus I enjoy having a wifi model to be able to view cook temps from my phone.
My 2 cents on getting to 500 degrees. Why are you wanting a smoker to run up to 500? My GMG will hit 500 but if I'm going for that hot of a temp I would rather use my gas grill or charcoal grill. I have done steaks at 500 and yes it works good, but the wheel house is low and slow.
Another company that makes killer pellet grills is Yoder. Something you might want to check out.

No matter what the salesman says from what I have read pellet grills are best for low and slow and not grilling. cforand1923 probably has given the most positive high heat review I've seen, which helps with my decision.

Very nice. How long have you had the Traeger? Any issues at all with it? I've had it about four months and done about 8-10 cooks on it. No issues so far. The smoke flavor is a little less than a stick burner but I've been told a smoke tube will change that. I definitely like the ease of use, it's fairly clean to run and the hopper has a chute/door in the back that makes it easy to empty. I'll never get rid of my stick burner or egg but love having it for those days when you just want to set it and forget it.
