You guys should catch all you can & pack the freezer for the long hot summer ahead when they won't be there. I caught them up until Oct last year. Theese fish aren't going anywhere for a long time.

We stopped at the Irwin bridge about 1030am Sunday to pay our way into Newman Bottom. there were a lot of cars parked there. We stopped and talked with a couple folks. They told us they caught a few fish at Irwin bridge Saturday, but none Sunday. We left there and headed to Newman's.
The wife and I walked in to NB about 11:30 and left at 4pm. Not many people or fish seen. we managed 4 keeper whites. I caught mine on blue/white clousers. the wife was fishing with med. shiners.
We didn't move around too much. the walk in wore me out. We fished by the foot bridge for a couple hours then moved upstream until 4pm. I'm too out of shape. that walk in to NB, and the walk back is rough on this old man. At this rate, and by the end of the spawn, I'll be back in good shape. LOL.
The water looked perfect. it was flowing fast in places. lots of trees and brush in there too. I lost half dozen lures/flies. It was a beautiful day to be out there. I'll be back soon.
tight lines!
Shut up and fish!

A buddy and I went and scoped it out yesterday as well. We walked from Irwin's Bridge towards Newman's Bottom. We didn't have much luck except 1 small crappie. I look forward to going back and having some better luck in a week or two!

As the weather warms up so will the fishing! I'm having a lot of trouble staying indoors especially since I have lots of vacation time to burn and the fish are calling me to the creek!

As the weather warms up so will the fishing! I'm having a lot of trouble staying indoors especially since I have lots of vacation time to burn and the fish are calling me to the creek! LOL. I know the feeling. I have a lot of time too. Mater of fact... Yesterday was so beautiful outdoors, and my soreness from all that walking was kicking my butt this morning, I didn't go to work today thinking I'd hit the San Gabriel river (the steps). then I remembered that I have a Dr. Appt. at 3:30, and my wife has an online class at 6. Dang it. There's always tomorrow. He He. (no... I'll be at work...) C'mon Saturday! Tight Lines!
Shut up and fish!

I was Troy's scout this time so he should be on the fish Wednesday and I will hit the creek again Saturday. Hope the road is open however it does keep the crowd down a little.

I just talked to Birch and Nails creek people and they have no plans to open NB to vehicle traffic due to culvert repair needing to be made... that's what they said. Good luck! I'll be somewhere tomorrow, can't decide whether to hoof it to NB or try my luck at Nails or Irwin...

It looks like the whitebass fishing in Cedar and Nails has gone cold... So the long paddle/walk to Newmans on the Yegua is our only option until it rains again.

Hook, the fishing yesterday morning up the Yegau was pretty slow too. I fished about 5 hours and only caught 4 white bass, talked to three bank fisherman that had none. I'm not complaining to much, because it was a nice quiet morning with plenty of fishing room.

Yes Cedar and Nails were dead. Caught a few LM bass, a huge sunfish that Jmoe would have drooled over , and found one hole holding crappie but no keepers. Tried the WMA near Irwins with nothing but a bunch of small perch. Beautiful day though.

Same here. Went Irwin this morning and fishing for 5 hrs. No luck for whites. Caught one crappie. Most people did not catch much either.

For those that may hit overlook marina, are the crappie starting to bite there yet, or is it still to early?
Taking the wife on Friday, just not sure how she would do walking the creeks out there.

Taking the wife on Friday, just not sure how she would do walking the creeks out there. Yes, the fishing at the Marina is picking up. I was there on Saturday. I've heard the week between Valentines day and Presidents day is usually when it reaches it's peak at Overlook.
