Make sure to use a proper spark plug tester, just pulling out and looking for spark does not mimic the compression load and does effect the spark.

^^ This. You can save a lot of money not throwing parts at it. Have the fuel pressure checked too. Hopefully it's something simple like coils. Good luck!

Get it checked ASAP. My ProXS was doing the same thing for about 5 months, couldn't find a compression problem, or plugs problem. Replaced coils even. Then one cold February morning on lake Texoma, I blew the powerhead. Reeds were bad too. It's a known problem in that engine too.

Is the engine alarming? Mine never alarmed one time.

Just think how much money you would have saved replacing everything in the fuel system if you would have taken it to a good mechanic the first time. Best quit running it before you blow a powerhead. I'll second the Service Marine recommendation.

Coils or maybe computer. I had a 1996 225 EFI with same issue. I was only firing on 4 cylinders. One cylinder was bad coil but mechanic couldn't figure out why the number 5 wouldn't fire. He had my boat for 2 weeks and finally decided to check computer and that was it. He said the Mercury computers almost never go bad. Been running great ever since.

I see one problem. You should never "wrap it up" in neutral.

Power pack is my bet! I went through this last year and oddly enough the power packs both tested to be good but still turned out to be my problem.

Sounds like the Ecu is bad or going bad. It has I high and low for spark, low is less than 3000 rpms to get the boat out of the whole then hits the high for top end. Had that problem about ten years ago with mine.
