Anyone ever wonder why anything with the name "Hobie" on it is never on sale? and why discount coupons to stores like ACK don't apply for hobie products? I need a new heavy duty cart for my PA and can't find one anywhere for under the ridiculous price of $169.99

I think you will find the Hobie will not even permit model year end sales.

Yeah it's ridiculous if you ask me, especially since their products are so expensive as it is

You could say the same about Yeti but I've seen their products on sale.

Because people pay the ridiculous prices.

Just like a new bass boat, $100,000... I can't say that if I had money pouring out of my ears I wouldn't pay it....

In the retail market it is supply and demand. Some manufacturers do not speculate on sales so they closely monitor supply and match that with on-hand stock.

In other words they only produce enough product to supply the short term essentially making a kayak that is already sold. It is one small step away from "direct to consumer" sales.

The dealer I used gave me a discount on hobie accessories. He also has offered year end and demo discounts.

1. They don't have to discount them to sell them.
2. I don't think Hobie can dictate how much a dealer can sell them for but can dictate a minimum ADVERTISED price.
3. It is the philosophy that if you don't value your product, then your customers won't value it either. If you make a habit of regularly discounting the products, then the smart consumer will simply wait for the sale to start shopping.
