I know this is the TEXAS fishing forum, but Ill be spending some time in Lake Charles over the next couple weeks, and was wondering where I would be able to launch my Kayak/Paddleboard to catch some specks or reds.
Thanks,
Will

This time of year the speck and red fishing can be great in West Cove and Joes Cove, they are both on the west side of Calcasieu Lake which are close to Lake Charles. Both places have ramps very close, and are very kayak accessible. I would stay just off the banks and throw a suspending bait like a corky fatboy or a mirrodine. You could try Prien Lake as well, but with the amount of fresh water coming out of the river system right now the water may be to fresh up there. Both of the lauches in the screenshots are just of HWY 27 south of Hackberry. Good Luck and I hope you catch a few!!
