It was tough conditions with high winds and cold weather, but we still managed 16 nice crappie and a nice kitty.
The weather report said winds 5-10, but was closer to 15 plus. Go figure, what else is new!
The new Ultrex worked flawlessly and was a good reason why we didn't get skunked.
The hardest thing to get used to is accidently hitting the foot pedal when on spot lock and hitting the north up heading and the motor taking off without warning.
No big deal, able to get back to spot quickly and fish again.

This was some of the fattest fish I have ever seen.
The biggest was a black stripped crappie that went 1.78 pounds, yet was only 13 inches long!
The crappie did not look normal at all.....so so fat like a football!
All fish caught on Dans Jigs, 1/32 oz. Ginger snap, my goto jig for any lake!

I'm always in a good mood when I'm fishing.

Nice catch! Tipping those jigs with minnows this time of year or nibbles?

95 percent of the time I tip with NIBBLES!

I rarely use minnows, I can usually get them to bite as long as the jig has a power bait(nibbles) on it!

I do always bring minnows when fishing clients, it's easier for novice fisherman to catch them that way.

I love the challenge of catching them on artificial baits, with nibbles. Most of the time, the bite is so light and subtle that you really have to be on your toes to catch them.

It seems that everything in the lake is fat and healthy right now, and since they opened the spillway, everything downstream of the spillway is eating good too.

Might give somerville a shot this spring in my flatbottom and try to run up the yegua for some crappie and whites. Never been out there before and I like to fish a new lake when I can. Thanks for the report Kevin!
