Has the hydrilla returned in force to these lakes since they were flushed out last spring? Toro was a mud hole last spring with almost no grass to be found but infested and gin clear prior to that.

Good Grass can be found on Rayburn. It's not every where but if you look you will find it. Can't speak on Toledo. haven't been in a couple years.

It's amazing to me how the hydrilla has disappeared from all the great lakes like Toledo Bend, Rayburn, Fork, Sandlin, Palestine, Lake O the Pines, etc. From the late 60's thru the early 90's you could find hydrilla as deep as 20 ft. There were occasions at Rayburn when the lake was down 6-8 ft. that areas would be void but after the lake filled it would come back. I remember when the Black and Amber Forest areas were covered with hydrilla and/or coontail. Bug island at TB was solid hydrilla. Hard for me to believe as some have suggested that it was poisoned. Guess one thing it did do was make bass chasers better anglers because they couldn't just pull up along side of matted grass next to a creek and start punching with a jig and it made them better off shore fishermen. But I also think the grass made these lakes better fisheries. JMO

So the grass beds of Indian mounds and Veach, and Toro/Pirates that were so massive in 2015 haven't returned at all?

The only grass I have seen is in Housen Bay. They sprayed for the sylvania all over the lake and the grass was gone after that.

Not much on Rayburn really compared to good years. If water stays at this level it should grow strong this summer.
