Headed out to Lake Conroe this weekend on a kayak. Any tips or suggestions on places to fish or what to use? Pretty new to fishing

We used to fish out of Cagle in kayaks, way less crowded and it's secure from my experience. As far as fishing suggestions, I'm about zero help so I'll let someone else give you advice there. We used to just fish along the bank at Cagle from the ramp northbound up to the bridge and around. Then we'd normally go across the lake and head southbound.

Cagle is a good place to launch. Lots of cover across the way in the first jungle area. Stowaway is another good place to launch. Just fish the area from the marina to Lake Paula. Never have to go on the main lake. Great spawning areas too.

What C130 said. You can go straight across from Cagle there are some islands and timber over there. You might look at Google Earth to get an idea of the lay of the land up there.
There is also Stubblefield up north of the 1375 bridge, probably some yaks up there.

My wife says I should have kept the kayaks. Bought a boat and can't catch anything, I hear it from her every day I go out.

Watch the wind on Sunday . It could get rough. Stowaway cove would be a good option. Launch at the Marina. Plenty of area inside the bridge to fish. More protected from the wind. Very few areas to run a boat so limited wake. Plenty of fish caught in that cove.

Great idea. Fishing from a kayak on cagle or stow-a-way should be good. Conroe is a Great Lake. Try throwing a rattle trap or square bill. After that a jig around the bridge. Just my two cents.

if you can get to seven coves, there is plenty to fish in there. I used to live there and there are fish in there year round. plus its out of the wind.
