Tarpon in the Caribbean and roosters in the pacific. There used to be some operations with lodges on both coasts , but not sure if they are still operating. good luck MO

Staying on the Gulf of Papagayo. Go for Roosters and Billfish then. Tarpon are on the other side as Mo said.

I went to Gulfito in the early 90's. Fished two days for sailfish and one day inshore. If I went back , it would be inshore only. I chunked the old Rebel windcheater poppers at large rocks near shore. Big snappers and jacks wore me out. I lost about a dozen of the poppers ( every one I took with me ) I did not catch a rooster , would love to try it again.. I won't be under gunned the next time. I was using a Abu 6500 with 20 lb mono on a 7 ft flipping stick. ( the heaviest rig I owned at the time) I would Hook them at the surface and they would dive for the rocks, 30-40 ft below. No contest.
