Great news for American industry and all of the supporting suppliers involved, it was ever a question of if it would happen only when. Piping and materials for the Patoka leg of the pipeline is all but completed already as materials started being shipped and staged as far back as 05', maybe earlier. It will be interesting how the domestic material mandate shakes out since there are already tons of foreign pipe staged and ready to go in several of the designated terminal sites.

It was more of an environmental issue I believe.

Not the pipeline as much as the goo it pumped.

I'm still surprised California hasn't deemed the La Brea tar pits a disaster site and applied to make it a toxic super site.

The California Environmental Coalition and the EPA shut down two major Chevron refineries in Richmond and El Segundo starting about 6 years ago. It took them about 2 full years of legal maneuvering for them to finally force Chevron out of production and wind the plants down. Oddly enough after several years of legal wrangling and no telling how many millions Chevron is now in the process of restarting both of those locations. Maybe, just maybe California is starting to figure out that they wont be able to fuel their yachts, private jets and limo's affordably with just grapes and granola. La Brea probably still needs to watch their P's and Q's tho.
