No. But saying "Well you should have fought harder" sticks your foot in your mouth all the way to the hip. We did.
Native peoples weren't blameless either. They're people with their own motives and desires just the same as we are now. If the government was making a point of forcing you from your home, destroying your culture, made practicing your religion punishable by death, you'd be just a little ticked too. Fights escalate. Especially when you have actions like those at Wounded Knee.
BUT.
There's no easy answer here. We like our cars. But we also have a long history of spills and leakages from pipelines. But trains and tankers are more dangerous, much less cost effective, and restricts growth. But since Trump took office, the fight is over. We've got another Andrew Jackson at the helm. He's going to run roughshod over anybody who gets in his way.

For those against this pipeline...
Are y'all against all pipelines or just this one?

Bear in mind that I am 1/4 Native myself. This particular instance just riles me up because it has been so politicized. The issue isn't what all of the MSM is reporting. As far as contaminating the water. the bore is much deeper than existing pipelines already under the same river. Modern pipelines are very safe. Most of the issues that have happened have been on very old lines.

Bought land, Stolen land, Traded land, Claimed land, Protected land, whatever.
At the end of the day, all parties involved will eventually fold over when the check they get has enough zeros for them.
It is what it is.

Remember my first comment on this thread was I have a friend who works with oil and gas companies to help them determine where to lay the pipelines to avoid going through archaeological sites. Sat around the fire with him and his wife on Saturday brainstorming a new conference / festival / teacher's conference.... historical thing. I just have a bad feeling about this because it has gone beyond what is reasonable a long time ago. It's an emotional matter. Not a logical, reasonable one. I tried to get on the bandwagon against the pipeline because the boss went out there as a veteran to help with the protests to keep the pipeline from being built. But I can't. Their arguments aren't based in reason or logic. They're giving emotional reasons. Every logical reason they give why it shouldn't be built can be refuted. And I really hate it and refuse to open my mouth in front of the boss because he's alllll on board.

Take a look at the numbers for spillage from trucks, trains, or ships and compare it to pipelines. Spillage is way way way higher per bbl transported by the vehicles. The only thing you can argue is that when a pipeline issue occurs, it is a huge problem. But I'd take my chances on that any day. Routine maintenance on you valves and regulators and your pipeline lasts for decades
Yea, those old low carbon pipelines of the early years with no NDE inspection, or containment systems had a way of letting us down.
You obviously are clueless of the modern pipeline , I'm a CWI by the way ,.....

Follow the money. The Dems are using the Native Americans on this one.
Warren Buffett stands to lose big $$$ if/when the pipeline opens. He owns an oil transportation company that uses trains in that area and donates lots of money to Dem cause.
Mr. Buffetts` oil transporting company had 4 spills last year. Where were the protests then?

Let's do something strange.... Make all those involved sit down and write out their pros and cons... They must also state what/where their interests lie. Environmentalist, Native American, Oil Company, etc
PUT IT ON PAPER....Let the American people make a sound judgement.... I trust Americans
