Do most use a multi-purpose marine battery to start and run all electronics on your boat or just a marine starting battery? Especially when you do a few all-nighters.

I just bought a group 31 AGM Duracell (Deka, SuperStart, etc) for that purpose. has 1000 mca's and 105 Ah of deep cycle power. my problem is that I fish private ponds about half the time, so I never start my outboard until it's time to load at the end of the day. running 2 lowrance hds gen3 units, and the livewell pump on time, was running my cranking battery down and I could not start the motor. plus, late afternoon, my lowrance units would turn off because the battery didn't have enough volts to run them.

I checked the amp draw from the lowrance units; they pull about 1.5 amps (each unit) and 0.8 amps if in standby mode. I'm not sure what the livewell pump pulls, but it's on a timer so it's not running constantly.

I used it last Friday, charged it Friday night, and then again on Saturday. both days I fished from 7:00 - 6:00. no problems with the lowrance units shutting down, and the outboard started without any issues.

I bought the Duracell from batteriesplus due to the 30 month free replacement warranty; the deka and superstart are the same battery, but with shorter warranty.

For a group 31 AGM these are prolly one of the best at $180!!
