3D structure scan isn't worth two quirts of [censored]. If you notice, all of the videos are showing it in deep water 60'+. It's useless in 30' or less.

It's useless in 30' or less. you are totally wrong on that it is design for shallow water. Here is one video I found, you wont do this with the old side scan. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k2jWrNtpZkM

you will rarely use the 3D. But the transducer itself gives a lot more definition to the side and down imaging. I cant say its worth the grand it cost but I do like the higher def imaging.

If you have to spend $1k for better side imaging, then you're better of buying another brand to begin with.

If you're fishing out of a 60,000 dollar boat and have another 10-15k in rods, reels, and tackle what's another 1000.... video of Evers makes me want one for sure. I just need a better paying career!

lol, kinda right I got an HDS 9 gen 2 for a present, and was just wanting to see if a regular lss-2 compared favorably with the 3d structure scan and if you can hook up a Gen 2 with 3d and if it would make a difference...

The videos I watched on it look awesome even for bass fishing but I am going to have to wait a looong while for them to go down on price before I get to interested.

2-chip,
Not sure if that was a sentimental present or not. The only reason I say that, You may not care about networking with another Lowrance, trolling motor, etc. Buying the separate transducer is expensive. Whereas, something like the Elite Ti 9 bought with included totalscan transducer might give you everything you want.

Yes, the transducer is better than the LSS2 transducers when it comes to side image, but as far as the 3D capability, it's useless.
