What we have been doing when shad are hard to find is chicken Breast with Dead Red but just not spraying it on or marinating it. I inject Dead Red just like injecting a Turkey whole Breast then Freeze with the rest of Dead Red in a container. Then cut chunks on the lake, seems to release and last longer. We started doing this to our buffalo too.

I have had good luck doing the same but injecting anise oil. A little goes a long ways.

Also when you inject your bait. It will make them hang on a little longer for the hook set. Been thinking about trying the Dead Red. Anise oil we've been using for as long as I can remember.

I have been leary of the dead red, but it has been out a while. Maybe Im missing out. Yall have good luck with it? I have caught decent blues on just chicken, but not alot of them.

I've used it. It's really hard to say if it makes a difference or not, but I think people use it under the assumption that it can't hurt.

Where are you guys getting the dead red stuff from? Never heard of it

BUT I USE SHAD SPRAY BUT MARINATE IT IN IT AND FREEZE. AND THEN THAW ITS READY.

I like to use chicken hearts. Tough, bite-sized and much more blood than breast.

Chicken livers sprinkled with a hint of garlic powder is my go to bait for channels, although my PB blue hit chicken liver.

Some of the 'other guys' have used strawberry koolaid to soak chicken breast.

Just get some chicken and waffles with maple syrup Lol
