Love my longer Pro Angler rods. Have them in every length 7 - 12 foot . Anybody use the shorter 5 ft 4 in for fishing Marina boat stalls? My wife is serious about wanting to give up minnows and has asked me to coach her in learning to jig fish and I'd like to start her off with a new rod. Any suggestions for a shorter rod that will be lightweight but have the greatest sensitivity?

For dock shooting, its more about watching the line than feeling the bite.
I use a short Ugly Stick rod for dock shooting and tight situations. Tough as nails. I've beat it all around docks and such and no broken tip yet.

5'4" all-star works well for me as does the 6' st. Croix. Both ultra-lites.
I would rather die finding out there was no God than die finding out there is.

I love the Pro Angler 4.5. I've caught lots of fish with this rod. It's also strong enough to bring in a 14 lb catfish. Glad you have the wife fishing with you. Nothing better than that.

pro angler 4'6" does about as good as any higher price rod. some like to fish a bit away from a dock and 6' suits them.I like to get close so the 4'6" works better for me. look for a stiffer tip for better distance. No buggy whips

Glad you have the wife fishing with you. Nothing better than that. Show her your love for her, get her 5.4' or 6' G rod crappie rod, she will greatly appreciate it.

I noticed that you specifically said fishing boat stalls and NOT dock shooting as they are 2 different methods for catching crappie..... LOL .. I fish the boat stalls a lot and my preference is a 5' Ugly Stik which are hard to find... However the newer versions in the 4'8" model to me is very good fore fishing boat stalls. The rod itself is almost unbreakable and is very sensitive to me as I use 6# hi vis line ... Hope this helps as this is my preference ... good luck to whatever you choose as I am sure your wife will enjoy fishing with you

" I noticed that you specifically said fishing boat stalls and NOT dock shooting as they are 2 different methods for catching crappie" This is a very good point. They are not one and the same. I like a 5 1/2 ft medium light spinning rod for fishing boat stalls. Like stated watching your line is the most important thing so hi-vis line is a must for me. I'm currently using a older model BnM Sharpshooter rod. I would be happy with any rod with some backbone.
