I'm fortunate, rather I was smart enough to buy a house close to Cypress Creek and a back woods pond that made it easy to access. The area I live in used to be quite rural, but with the encroachment of the city, it has become my small escape from my daily life and the noise roaring from the streets nearby. Yesterday was a beautiful day for a hike along the creek. Took my 5wt rod and some homemade flies in search of bream and small bass. The water was running fast and dirty, but the solitude and the scenery was a good trade for the poor fishing. When I can't get on the lake, I'll fish the pond and creeks. Success is hit or miss, but it's better than sitting on the coach!

Nice but I would be hooking a tree bass on every back cast I bet.

nice post! I'm curious, is that the Big Cypress or the Little Cypress? Reason I asked is that as a teenager I used to set out "pole lines" on Big Cypress between Mt Vernon and Winnsboro.-p-

Wonderful spot Mr. Oliver. My first creek bass was on a section of Cypress Creek between Huffmeister and Eldridge.

I think this is Big Cypress creek, but don't quote me. It's located in the northwest part of Houston. A short walk from the house. Fishing is primarily small bass, small gar, and a ton of small bream.
