I will be installing hydraulic steering on my Skeeter 190 SX with a 150 VMAX soon. My question is how difficult is it to install on your own? I know pulling current cables will be a pain but more curious about the technical difficulty of installing one. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Never done one myself, but there are a lot of YouTube videos on step by step installations of units like SeaStar. Might check those out.

Been wearing out those videos.... just not sure about hidden issues they don't discuss. Thanks!

pulling is easy on that boat open the storage box behind the driver seat remove the four screws that hold it in pull it up an out you will be able to reach forwards an backwards to pull your hoses.

Did it on a TR186, not difficult installing but getting the old cables out kinda difficult. Also the old steering cables don't cut very easily.

cut them off at the motor with a sawsall an they will pull out easy from the console.

Installed in my ZX185c back in late summer. Tied a string to the old cables when we pulled them out. Tied back and taped them to pull the hoses. Made it simple as pie.

Cut rods off at motor with a cut off wheel or sawzall. If you have dual steering tape one of the hoses to each one and pull from the helm. Getting bled and air free will require two people. Kind of like bleeding brakes. Hope this helps

Here's an opinion. It's not terribly difficult, but steering is crucial and can cause serious issues if something goes wrong. If you are not comfortable doing it, pay a professional.
