This will be my first time to do one. My father in law does it for a living. Anyone ever done it?

I'm not very good at it, but highly recommend everyone to try it once. Setting stuff on fire is fun. What are you torching!

I may or may not know of one that started in 1988 in Round Rock that was uncontrolled from the start.

Also may or may not have been the one who started it

Also may or may not be the son of a deputy state fire marshall

I've said too much.

Make sure your FIL is there and FDs are notified . Be extra careful and keep in mind that you're legally responsible for damages to other properties .

I do a bunch during the year, mostly in March and April. It's fun and I always see some cool stuff.

Are you talking fields or brush piles?
Is there a burn ban in your County? This little bit of snow is not going to be enough moisture to revert a ban.
Have you talked to your County Fire Marshall/ burn guy?

I have hosted a hunt weekend for over 20 years. One of the highlights for the kids, that are now adults, was the midnight bonfire. But there were a couple of years where I had to explain to them it couldn't be done because it was too dangerous, wind/dry/etc, but now they get it.

Don't screw yourself and/or your neighbors.

So you're the reason for these signs on the Kansas Turnpike:
