Because they screw people over for a living?

Never had a problem with a claims adjuster, my own or from the company of the guy at fault. Always treated more than fair.

You don't have to agree with them. Request another adjuster because of your concerns. Yeah... they want to get off cheap.

Their say is not final. If the body shop finds more damage or finds that the estimate for the damage is low they will contact the insurance and get it adjusted.

always remember the adjustor's job is to settle the claim as cheaply as he can for the insurance company....and...insurance companies DO NOT want to be taken to court.....

Simply not true...

Your claims adjusters job is to fairly and accurately settle the claim to the best of their ability, considering all facts and information that is provided to them. Adjusters are people too, sometime them might make a mistake, but one mistake doesn't represent the entire industry.

You may not always be happy with the outcome of a claim, but that doesn't mean the adjuster is trying to screw over their customer.

They have ethics and standards to follow in their job. 99% of claim adjusters are just doing their job, they arnt out to get you.

I will say that being friendly and upfront with you adjuster can go along way. When they meet the one person that tells them "You arnt going to rip me off, Ill take you to court" right off the bad, it usually isn't a plesent experience.

Great advice. I'm a homeowners adjuster and I would always rather help whenever possible. Frankly my job is way easier when I pay then don't pay. I believe most adjusters feel the same way. Now maybe there are some companies that force their adjusters to be tight. I don't work for one of those companies so I couldn't speak to that. We just want to pay what we owe, nothing more nothing less.

Last time I had an auto insurance claim, it was simple enough (I think I had Allstate back then). The claims adjuster felt that the hail damage was only worth about half of what the dealership said it would cost to fix it.

Since it was a new truck less than a year old, the dealership service department got a different adjuster to come out & they agreed on an amount adequate to replace the roof, hood & repair the other areas.

I do about 100 H.O. claims per year, mostly water related. I would say almost all the adjustors are fairly easy to deal with, and just want to get the homeowners taken care of.

I do about see about 3 bungholes adjustors per year, but overall that's not bad

I've been in the roofing industry now for about a year... I have met some great adjusters about 95% of them actually. They are there to help the home owners but there is that small percentage that are having a bad day when they get there. If you can get them laughing or just talking it's all good.
