I am a Southern boy. Born in Georgia. Raised in Georgia and the Carolinas.

I know it is a southern thing, but I wonder how many of you grew up with greens and peas as your traditional New Years meal?

We always did peas and cabbage, that said collards are outstanding. I eat them regularly.

You can't get good collards here, you need to go to deep east Texas, find some road side cafe with a fat woman cooking, if you peep in the kitchen and they have a can of actual Lard they probably know how to cook them.
