For me most of the great bass was back before bands used 2 or more guitars. When listening to bands from that era you notice the bass player doing a lot more. Grand Funk's "I'm your captain" comes to mind. Plenty of great bass players around now but not plenty of great songs IMO. Some of the best Bass ever recorded IMHO.

Certainly not the best but maybe if you are talking the 60's and 70's one of the most recorded bass players. The video is way too long and not about a song. If you want to hear a story about the evolution of music in that era and some bass tactics or techniques its a gem. Carol Kaye If you don't know a ton about the music of the era, "The Wrecking Crew" is playing Jan. 2 @ 7:50AM on HSMOV. A real eye opener.
