What kind of rod where you using to hold up to that? Heck of a job getting her in.
Preserving Texas fishing heritage one lure at a time.

That's no crappie....I think they call it a bass You did a heck of a job getting that big ol cat landed with crappie rigging.

Thanks all I was as suprised as anyone. Ive always used Spirex reels they have great drags, lite 6ft. bps rod. I had just respooled reel on way out with new crappie max 8lb. line. Another lucky break was i had already hooked a couple 2 lb blues that had stressed my small crappie jig n water was off colored that day we were seeing lots of shad schools on the sonar, so I had changed my lure to a 1/4 oz head n 1 3/4 inch sassy shad body with a #2 hook in it. Thier was a lot of luck involved still though , first she ran for open water from under a bridge where i was abe to stay directly over her with the TM n then After that it was,a tug of war she kept swimming n it was, quite a bit b4 i got a glimps I was, able to steer her somewhat. Finally she swam by n we were able to net her. I figured it was a big buffalo that I had snagged but after a while n lots of diving for the bottom I knew it was a catfish but I was about 20 lbs off on my size estamate..I would have released her but my scale wouldn't weigh her n i was affair she might die, anyway after what seemed like 45 minutes battle.
