Wife and I was taking a guide trip out of Lake Fork Marina on early summer morning a few years back. We get in the boat and he backs us in
and goes to park the truck, he walks back and says he left his wallet in the resturant and will be right back.
My wife grabs a rod with a big spinnerbait and start casting out of the boat into the water around the boat ramp.
Just as he walks back she whacks about a 4 pound bass,....lands it, guide does a quick picture,
and knew just how to put her on fish. We still laugh about that. fish

I was in a tourney on Grand Lake and caught a fish off of a dock. I unhooked her and chunked my senko back out along side of the boat while I put my fish in the live well. I picked my rod back up and another keeper had eaten it.

Fishing out of a canoe in the boundary waters of Canada and Minnesota, I had just caught a 4lb smallmouth and it took the curly tail off the jig hook. I dropped the hook over the side while I put the smallmouth on the stringer. Rod doubled over and I had another 4lber bite the bare hook!! I'm just glad I had a witness to back up my story at camp

Pulled in a bass one time while fishing a crank bait. The line had broken but somehow got caught in between the two "wires" that make up the split ring. It was not tied to anything.

Be safe,

I heard this at the ramp on Lake Barnett (Arkansas) from an old crappie fisherman. He said he wasn't doing well crappie fishing so he threw a T-Rig worm up close to the bank where he had seen some nice size bass chasing minnows. One picked it up as soon as it hit the water. As he was pulling it up next to the boat 2 huge bass came up behind the smaller bass and one ate him and the fight was on. He said he had fought it for at least 5 minutes and it broke off. He estimated the fish to be 15+- lbs!

Here's another good one from the great state of Arkansas. Some of you may have already heard this one as it was somewhat national news a few years ago.

A cat fisherman was fishing small Lake Dunn just outside Harrisburg/Wynn, AR. and wasn't having any luck and threw out a T-Rigged worm. While working it something was happening inside the boat so he put the rod down (Worm still in the water). He noticed his rod leaving the boat so he grabbed it in time and set the hook. He fought and landed a huge fish. He went to have the fished weighed and called a game warden to certify the fish as Arkansas' new state record LM 16 lb 5 oz bass--WOW!!! Days later AFTER Field and Stream and others had made the announcement, AGFC discovered the mans license was expired when the fish was caught. They called and asked him about it and he admitted sending a friend to get him a license while waiting on the Game Warden to show up to weigh/certify the fish. WOM-No new state record!!!

Story and pictures of the fish--It even made Bassmasters before the discovery!

Hung the eye of a crankbait that in a 3 pounders mouth.
It was very deep so I am sure the bass actually hit my crankbait also,

Retirement best job ever.

Me and my youngest son out crappie fishing from shore one spring afternoon... Minnow n bobber for him, 1/16 oz marabou jig for me..... He got a bite, set the hook and almost got drug in the water.... I helped him fight until his line broke....... You woulda thought his puppy just died, he was UPSET about losing that fish!

Less than an hour later, at the end of a retrieve just as I was about to lift my jig out of the water, a huge bass swims up almost onto the shore and hammers it... I woulda let the kid reel it in, but there was no fight, i just drug it a couple feet out of the water....... There in its mouth was a brand new shiny #4 eagle claw bait holder hook.. Coincidently the same hook I had tied on for my son..... Fish was a little over 5lbs, and my son still hasn't forgiven me 5 years later

Another story... Not a bass, and we didn't actually catch it.. But still too weird not to share

Me and my buddy night fishing for cats, anchored in about 6' of water soakin punch bait on the bottom, him off starboard side me off the bow, out baits were at least 30-40 yards apart..... We got to talking instead of paying attention, next thing you know we both had a fish on..... Only problem, it was the same fish

This fish managed to eat both our baits and tangle our lines together while we sat there blabbing... We were fighting against eachother and against the fish.... When we got it to the boat it ran under, got tangled in the anchor rope and broke off while we tried to hand line it up

Century Bass Club Open back in the 90's on Fork. Spring time so I was throwing a big old Red RatLTrap. Got it hung up on a laydown log. Kept popping my rod and line to try to get it to come free. My fishing buddy started heading over to it. We got within about 6 feet and I popped my rod again and felt it pop loose from the log. Started reeling my line and noticed it moving off. Immediately reeled down and set the hook and pulled in a 9.5 lb over the slot beauty. I was pumped heading to weigh in but that was short lived when about 5 or 6 other bigger bass were weighed in that day. Got a nice little check and a great memory for me and my bud. Ended up having a replica made of the fish which was my biggest at that time and had a good feeling watching the gal being let go later that day.
