I would like to know what you think. Speed is not a concern, how does it fish? Thinking about upgrading my 1989 Champion 184.

I don't own one but I spent a day in one at Caddo. It was loaded with options. 115 Merc 4 stroke, 80 foretrex, 2 power pole blades and a couple of Lowrance HDS units, 10's I think. The first thing I noticed is that the front deck is huge. We flipped all day and had plenty of room. The guy I was with is probably 225 lbs and the boat was very stable. It was also quiet. I think they fill it with foam. Running the river we had to cross several boat wakes. I braced for impact but it wasn't bad at all. I would consider one for myself if I didn't like to go 65+ from spot to spot.

I have not been in a ranger, but I've fished out of a G3 talon 19. These new generation aluminum boats are not like a flat bottom. The talon ran/fished great. If I didn't fish Rayburn/Toledo tournaments, I wouldn't hesitate to make the switch.

You'll pay more for the name on the side, alot of good quality tin rigs out there for less probably, G3, Xpress? Don't know much about crestliner but there is a FLW pro that fishes out of one seems to win alot.

I was considering one, then they came out with the 198 rated for a 150. After a lot of consideration I went with another Skeeter. Living 5 miles from Fun n Sun had ALOT to do with that decision. Here is a thread I have book marked. It's pretty informative regarding the RT188. Click Tin Boats at the top of that page. Lots of RT threads there. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=701184

I love mine... Its a give and take! Not the best in rough water, you will get wet if its rough! Overall, the boat fishes great! Stable, wind does'nt affect it as much as other aluminum boats! Wish it had a little more storage! If your close, your more than welcome to try it out! Lots of info on the BBC boards under tin section!

I bought one this year. Considerably bigger than my 175 Tracker. Rides about the same. Will get a little spray but not bad. Definitely quiet, love the 115 four stroke. The 80 lb foretrex is great. Well built.

Love mine so far. I don't have a great 'need for speed' and it's got all the bells and whistles I could ask for to support my style of fishing. I've fished out of Trackers and Xpress tins and they're good boats, too, but the Ranger does seem to be finished better. Running across a heavy chop in a crosswind will get you wet. I was looking at G3s, Crestliners and Tritons along with Trackers before deciding on the Ranger. I'm satisfied I made the right decision for me.
