At home...sick...bored...experimenting around yesterday...stripped and repainted a Bill Norman's DD-14 in something similar to an old Mann's shad pattern. Hand cut a couple of eye sockets in the plastic and put 6.5mm eyes in. Should have light sanded the sockets to clean up the edges... hoping an epoxy clear will soften the edges a bit. Also, tried to paint fins on the body...what a pain. Pondering whether to cut the bill out and replace it with something a little wider??? Should totally change the action of the lure. Anybody seen any of JoseAnt's posts...the guy is an awesome luresmith.

A coat of Envirotex lite covered the rough edges of the eye sockets pretty well. Etex is a great two part clearcoat, just mix in equal parts, stir, cover and let sit for a short time, then brush on and spin the lure for a while. Its got a longer working life than D2T and can be thinned with denatured alcohol to almost water like consistency.
