In addition to TPWD releasing trout the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) is releasing trout in the Trinity river Thursday. 2200 trout in Trinity and River parks. These have been larger trout than the TPWD trout in the past. TPWD will also release on 1-4 and 2-10, followed by another TRWD release on 3-11 during Flyfest.
Last year the rains played havoc with the Trinity releases. I had some luck with the TPWD fish, but took 2 vacation days for the TRWD release with nothing to show for it but an aching back. To make it even more humiliating people with bait and super dupers were pulling them in all over.
But I've licked my wounds and healed my injured pride, took 2 vacation days, and will be on the Trinity Thursday.

Does anyone know if they will put some in the lower stretch like they did for fly fest? I wish they would put half down there instead of putting them all above the dam in the lake like part for the bait chunkers. Much more conductive to fly fishing in that lower stretch!

Well, the fish are in the water and gomers are on the bank. What a silly sight.

I was at the park near downtown when they were stocking this morning. I asked if they were going to stock in the lower area in River Park and they said only in the lake part this time. Will stock the lower part during Flyfest.

Well 2 years in a row with 0 TRWD trout caught. This year did get a bump on a #10 olive crystal bugger Thursday but no hookup. Went out for a while Friday but the wind was blowing 20+ and I gave up after about an hour.
Today I gave my lawn the last mow/edge of the year instead of fishing. I was sweating like crazy around 1 and when I went to Jason's deli around 5 it was near freezing and the wind was 20+ out of the North. At 6 it was 31 in Mansfield and still in the 70s in Palestine. Crazy weather day.
Its supposed to be windy tomorrow and Monday I'm going Christmas shopping with my wife then it's back to work Tuesday so the TRWD trout skunked me aain.
But there's still 2 TPWD stockings and fly fest in March on the Trinity so I'm not giving up.
