They are so different. The 50MG is super light with little line capacity. The Revo has a powerful drag, is fairly heavy, with good line capacity. I say they are both really good, but have different uses.

Go with the Revo STX - you will not be disappointed! Unbelievable reel! Use your Shimano's to weight down your brush piles with. The STX in my hands on Fork Thursday with Bazztex was absolutely better than sex! Bazz had 20-lb. test mono spooled on it casting a 2-1/2" crankbait with a 6-foot MH rod and without any effort at all I was casting that little lure at least 50-yards! I'm sold that there are no other bait cast reels out there like this Revo STX! You done missed the boat if you don't own one of these reels or more!
I was slinging my 1/2 ounce spinner bait with a Shimano CVL300 Corvalis on a Shimano CV70MHB rod with 14-lb. test mono and had to throw my shoulder socket out of joint to come close to what that Revo STX was doing with no effort.

Heck, I'm getting both retrieve speeds. I couldn't decide myself. It's only money...that the wife doesn't know about. If she finds out, though, my plan is to tell her it's a set of his and hers....

Use your Shimano's to weight down your brush piles with Geat real !! The Revos are Bad A, but to say the MG is a piece of junk, is going a little overboard !! You cant go wrong with the Revo STX, or the Chronarch 50 MG !! If you were comparing either to the Steez that would be a different story. I am by no means a Diawa fan, but I used a Steez rod & reel, at the Classic, and they are Awesome !! That is the first reel that I have used, that I like more than the 50 MG !! But, they are not $200 better than the Revo, or 50 MG !!

It depends...I used both at Amistad a few weeks ago. While throwing 1oz blades the Revo STX would cast longer but if throwing a light tx rig the mg was slightly further.
So I believe they both have their strengths but I prefer the Revo. I have always like the external break adjustment so the Shimano's have really never been my choice.

The Revo STX would be a good all around general purpose reel and I think the Mg50 is better suited for a light line application, although I stuck one over 9 on the MG50 and it hauled it in without any problems.

It's all in the application sir. The 50mg is great for light applications with finessish type baits from small to medium.
The Revo you could stop a truck from running on you if you have the right cable. It's better suited to more moderate applications (heavier lures).
If it comes down to it, the Revo is going to have more versatility then the 50mg. Just my thoughts on it.

Let me throw a wrench in the mix. Has anyone had a chance to fish with the new Elite model from BPS. I've only handled it at the store, and I must admit, I'm amazed at how tightly constructed the reel is. While light, it feels extremely strong, substantial, and exact. I wonder how the three would compare? Really, the comparison should be the Chronarch 100B and the STX.
