Never been there and thinking about going this weekend.
How is it to get around on? I think we're going to put in down by the dam.

I have fished the lake many times. The lower end of the lake is pretty free of stumps but it gets a little more interesting as you move up the lake. The river channel was marked up to the bridge the last time I was up that way. I would take it easy as you enter some of the coves as you move up the lake. There are many places where the underwater stumps are numerous. There is some great spots on the lower end as well.

Down by the dam at the county park to about mid lake upper northwest is pretty clear it's from there on you really have to be careful the little boat run is actually the creek coming through the trees. They are just under the water line. There used to be red marker buoy's that you could follow not sure if they are still there or accurate. They were about where the yellow line drawn in and is just to show on either side of the line is a lot of stumps I wouldn't run it full speed, idle through there. Northwest of the bridge is loaded with stumps idle along the east bank out some because it's pretty shallow. It used to have a lot of hydrilla before they stocked it with grass carp some time ago and to me hasn't fished the same since. Of course it's been a couple of years since I've been out there too. Had a tournament in November there. There were talks about closing the park so you may wanna launch elsewhere. There was a gap between baracades just wide enough for boats/rvs to get in but not sure about it now.

As far as running, the marker buoys are still there and the lane is clear. I ran wide open and idle and never hit anything in the lane. The buoys end but you can follow the path it takes you to the bridge still on plane. Don't run underneath as it is dangerous. Big huge trees down there, saw some wider than the boat. From the start of the buoys all the way to the dam and further south you can run wide open. One long point on the left but it has a buoy marking it. Once you get to the end of the south arm there are stumps but just use common sense down there and you'll be fine.
