I always rely on Channel 5 meteorologists for wind and weather forecasts. I record every forecast so I can watch the latest whenever I'm ready. When they went to the new 5 + 5 format they left off wind. I plan my days and weeks and weekends primarily around the wind forecasts. Don't care if it is hot or cold or raining, but wind effects the way I fish, which is vertical jigging and hanging on brush/timber/structure.
So I sent Grant Johnston at NBC5 an e-mail. Lo and behold! Yay. Thanks Grant and all the NBC5 team. First rate.
Now I/we can plan our weeks and weekends. I plan to take my last few days of vacation, but it's all depending on the wind. cool

Nicely done.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Yep, that's the kicker for Saturday. South wind in the morning, then switching to north... and must be a good one because the temperatures drops 30 degrees from Sat to Sun. dang.

It's the old saying, If you don't like the weather, hang around a day...
cheers

I use the adding rule of thumb. If it says 10-15 mph, add them together and that's what it will feel like on the open water.

This is for the Lake Fork area, but you can change it for the particular area you will be fishing:

I think you might see a significant change in the forecast temps in the morning for Sun - Tues.

I'm only going to fish Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday. Regardless of wind. Gotta go when I can!

Yep, that's a good one! Gives you hour by hour and when it changes. We use McKinney for our area.

Yep, anything more than a day or two out is a general estimate. But it sure gives you a good idea NOT to go out Sunday morning. lol
grin Go to church instead! cool

Funny thing about wind, when you would like to have some like when it's 100 , forget it but when it is cold look out here it comes.

If it was easy, everyone would do it

True dat.
Also true what was said to add 10 miles an hour to whatever wind forecast when you're out of the lake.

I took off work today to take advantage of the Wind shift from north to south. Calm enough for my bass boat so I Snuck out to Twak today and caught this.
