Has anyone heard about when the gen 4's will be released? Any speculation on what will be added?

Maybe they will call it a Carbon - change the screen and some minor other things and charge $500 more than you can buy a Gen 3 now.

That's what was just released - don't be fooled by the ad - it's still and extra $1000 for the 3D which greatly improved down and side scan but I am not using the 3D as it seems gimmicky and I don't trust it to find fish better then down / side / 2d

With hummingbird just releasing a new side and down scan using 12khtz - which by the ad looks super clear and amazing - I think there will be a new sonar module or the Gen 4 in a year will have it built in.

Seems as though Lowrance is just mixing and changing names and tech for different units to be added.....They do have a very very large list of many different units if you know what I mean.

I can't quite put my finger on it.

The new Carbon series will be out in the first quarter of 2017. The biggest change will be Dual Core Processing which helps eliminate lag time for things like map loading, screen functionality and improved 3D scanning. It will also allow the units to run any future features that will require extreme processing power.

Other benefits are the Dual Channel CHIRP and DUAL Network Sounder views. This gives you the ability to view both front and back transducers on a split screen at the same time. You can also run CHIRP Sonar and Structure scan at the same time without any screen interference.

The screen on the Carbon series is much brighter than the GEN3 units and can viewed at wide angles without getting a blurred image.
