The secret to staying warm is catching fish. It never feels cold when they are biting and the adrenaline is pumping.

Remember this, there are big bass that always feed at night and hardly ever during the day. I would bet those aren't shallow right now. They don't want to be affected by the night time temp drop. If you can find the zone where the temp drop stops that should be where they are. I would bet somewhere around 10'. Slow roll a big swimbait on some deeper points. You might not get bit but if you do it will be worth it

I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you see me out there on any lake at night in 35* weather call 911 cause somebody has a gun on me. Remember the 'ol Jimmy Houston saying, night time is good for two things and fishin' ain't one of them. If I can't catch'em during the day I just won't catch'em. One day you'll be the same way trust me.

Great info bb94. Should help me on CC. I like night fishing.
Question: Does the significant warming today lead to any must-try techniques?

Oh I have fished at night but it has been many moons ago, now since I have a lake house and I have a wet slip near by my mind may change in the summers up on Lake Texoma.

The fact that so many won't fish at night is why I do! I love the peacefulness of having an entire lake to myself. In summer it is much more comfortable, in winter if I was going to fish during the day I might as well dress a little warmer and go at night for bigger fish. The added bonus is the wind usually isn't as strong at night as during the day so I can usually fish anywhere on the lake that I want

Night fished over 100 nights on Monticello in the winter when it was below freezing. Heck my rod boxes and steering column froze one night and had to pout hot chocolate to unfreeze it. But we caught over 15 fish amd three fish over 8. It was a night to remember. I'm only 20 so I can withstand a little more (no offense to the older folk) but I love it and I go every chance that I possibly can at night or in the day. As far as summer time? I don't fish throughout the day. 9-10 o clock is the latest ill stay out during the day. Usually launch at dusk and fish til dawn.
