Wife and I were planning a trip down there but think I'll just stay home and deer hunt... Dang the newspaper article Debra posted makes it sound like the guys that got shot at were just fishing.... They also said Trump didnt have a chance!

The news story says that they received the call at 8:45. Doesn't necessarily mean anyone was even available to call in on it the second it happened.

I've been to Falcon and Amistad a lot in the past and never felt unsafe. I've also never been on the lakes at past dark....

This will undoubtedly be another hit to local Zapata merchants. Just means more area for those of us who "Ain't Skeerred" to fish!!

There are so many uncertainty's at this point as to what really happened. I can think of a many different boat ramps/ lakes that crimes take place during the nighttime hours, the location of Falcon just leads to the obvious/ easiest conclusion considering the history.
Like many have said and from my own experiences over the last 10 years or so, its always a good idea to start making your way to the ramp hours before the sun goes down, expect the un-expected and allow for mechanical issues should they take place on your way in. There are some great people in Zapata and its a good idea to have a Plan A, Plan B, and so on before heading out on the lake, a lake I still consider to be a jewel of Texas.

Haven't been down there since 2012 but never felt safer on the water. You couldn't sling a dead cat without hitting a LEO of some kind. Border Patrols advice then was "just be off the water before dark".
Best fishing trip EVER. Have never been more tired and sore after a week of fishing.

Now, 27 years of fishing Falcon... Never run into such a scenario. Of course, I'm not much into drug smuggling. No, we don't know all the facts. We may never know them all. But I can assure you that it's more dangerous to walk down any city street in America than it is to mind your own business and fish Lake Falcon.
Prayers for all involved and also to those that make a living and will be negatively affected by the press this is/will receive, unnecessarily.

Is trumps wall going to cross the lake? Wouldn't be crossing it but rather right down the center from up river to the damn!!! I think if the wall does go up, Mexico would stop the reciprocal fishing on Falcon and Amistad. You prolly wouldn't want to be on the south side anyhow!!
