For info there was a shooting on falcon lake last night around 9pm near the state park. One male was shot in the head and died of his injuries. One other male escaped his assailants by jumping in the water and hiding out. That subject is in the hospital suffering from hypothermia. What is unclear at this point is exactly what happened. Two boats and pickups were recovered at the state park ramp and are connected to the investigation. The case is being investigated by the Texas Rangers and at this point they are not releasing any info on what led up to the shooting and exactly where it occurred . Initial reports indicate this is more than likely drug smuggling related because both subjects involved are not model citizens and have connections to drug trafficking. It may be related to the seizure of 6500 lbs. of weed that was spotted in the Salado last week by a Border Patrol Aerostat ballon. Since the weed was located on the Mexican side, Mexican authorities were notified and responded making the seizure. The State Park/Salinillas island area has been a hot area for smuggling for several weeks so keep your eyes open and proceed with caution.

Never felt unsafe. Mind your own... dont do anything stupid and I bet you will be fine.

Good news is since the "Mexican Authorities" made the bust it is still in circulation!

I am sure the "Mexican Authorities" will return the drugs to their rightful owner.

Geez so the smugglers just pick up their load at the state park ramp. Seems like all those troopers need to move a little closer to the ramp.

There you go. The news media doesn't know anymore than I know, which is nothing. The authorities are not going to tell the media anything. It is all speculation and hype. If the truth be know and they were into drugs; then one thug probable killed the other thug and jumped in the lake.

Sad news. Prayers sent for the family and friends of the victim. The Lord Jesus Christ has control.

Falcon is very safe during the daylight, no fish is worth fishing at or near dusk.

Since I don't plan on being out on the lake after dark, I am still going.

I was wondering why they were there 3 hours after dark myself. I fish the dark a lot but I wouldn't think to do it on falcon
