My contractor did a decent job with the steel cable on the deck. The one thing I would like to do is something to give the terminal ends of the cable a more finished end. Where it loops around the turnbuckle it is a bit frayed. Is there a good way to finish that off a bit?

I have used plastic or metal caps with heat shrink about 3" long.
you can also just use electrical tape then heat shrink.

oriellys sells small rolls of heat shrink, cheaper than buying precut pcs.
think they run about 6.00 here.

Tape will work, heat shrink is better. You can also get seizing wire and do a whip finish that looks great. If it is a small cable, I would just use heat shrink. If it's over 5/8ths of an inch, I would look into seizing wire. Hope this helps.
