Been fishing braid for years, broke down and bought some Mr Crappie fluorescent due to peer pressure from just reading about it. I don't like it at all, it was twisted up just spooling it on my reel. I completely agree with needing to see your line to detect bites ya don't feel. I have always used Power Pro 10lb braid, which really I can see pretty good, but is there a fluorescent braid that is comparable? Do you recommend any brand?

In clear water, do you put a leader on it? If yes, typically how long?
Or do you run the yellow super slick to the jig?
Thanks

It's all personal preference when it comes to leaders. You can get away with no leader on most lakes around here but some have more confidence with the leader.

Power Pro Super 8 Slick Hi-Viz Yellow 15# 1500 yds for $113.95 on ebay. And I always use a leader set up the way Earnest Paty does. Really small barrel swivel and 8# mister crappie hi-vis yellow. I use that as a leader because I got a spool for Christmas. No other reason. I also tried using it on a spinning reel and had the same results, much twisting!

15# Suffux 832 hi-vis braid with a 3'-4' 10# fluorocarbon leader. I attach the leader with a Albright knot. It's very simple to tie and it slides right through the guides. I also like the leader because it's easier to re-tie if I change jigs or break one off. I might try the small barrel swivel like Ernest and Rodney.

Been using Berkley Nanofil since spring and I love it. Tying on a Trilene XL leader with an Albright knot. It comes in hi-vis yellow. It's the first braid that has worked for me and I've tried more than a few.

last year i switched to Power Pro Slick fluorescent yellow 30 lb test with a swivel and 8 lb clear mono leader best thing iv ever done.i love it and the line color is still pretty yellow after a years use almost every day! i would never go back to mono.and the reason for 30 lb is its a bit thicker and keeps the line from cutting into itself on the spool.also they say braid looses about 1/2 its strength in a year. i order mine from BPS $32 for 300 yrds.i can spool 6 reels with 300 yds. Been fishing braid for years, broke down and bought some Mr Crappie fluorescent due to peer pressure from just reading about it. I don't like it at all, it was twisted up just spooling it on my reel. I completely agree with needing to see your line to detect bites ya don't feel. I'm with Gamblinman! I use Powerpro Hi-Vis with a 10-12 pound leader of Seguar Flourocarbon. I have solid glass tips on my rod and I never miss a light bite, whether it's a lift or a pull that tip tells the truth and I can see it with my aging eyes.
