Without reading the 8 pages of this I will say that I wouldn't shoot a dog I saw while hunting no matter what he was doing. Some of you are morally corrupt and need to seek help.

Ok, after an hour of research as an official Internet attorney I have found 40.092 of the Texas penal code that says it is a state felony to shoot a dog without the owners permission. So if that dog is not a threat to your livestock or person you best rethink your dog killing policy. It also says this includes stray dogs.

Well, it happened to me tonight. Sitting in a tree stand behind the house watching 4 deer. Decided to shoot a nice doe, then suddenly they blow out of there. Somebody's big brown and white dog right on their heels... Guess its time to meet the neighbors.

What gets me is that some on here hate the thought of violence against dogs SO much that their solution is violence against a human? Doesn't makes sense to me. While I don't condone violence against humans....I like my dog a whole lot more than most humans I meet these days.

As I sit here chomping on the my venison hot stick, I can't help but think that as hunters we've got more than just the law to consider as it relates to our actions. The reality is less than 10% of the population hunts. Of the 90% remaining there's roughly a 50/50 split on how we are perceived. I always try and ask myself a few questions when deciding the morality of something that's potentially on the fringe relating to hunting.
1. Does the golden rule apply here? 2. Am I respecting the animal or the resource? 3. Would I do this if my kid were here watching? 4. How do my actions impact the perception of hunters by non hunters?
I'm of the opinion that we can act perfectly within the law but still be doing something that brings a negative view from an outside perspective which could ultimately deprive us all of a privilege we can trace back to our most distant ancestors. Shooting a collared dog on sight fails all four test for me personally. To each his own though. Well after 8 pages of reading, I vote this the most sane post.

I saw the clone post on Facebook yesterday claiming that the man was pissed about not getting a deer so he shot the dogs because he just wanted to kill something and that he kept their collars as trophies. Then it said he admitted to these things. This struck me as a bit far fetched. Got thousands of people in an uproar and fast. This has apparently now been removed from Facebook. The original article just said the guy's dogs were missing, he went looking for them, found the guy who shot them, saw a suspicions brush pile, and then got the guy to fess up to shooting the dogs. It said nothing about the dogs going after livestock or wildlife, nor did it say anything about the guy gloating about it and keeping the collars as trophies. Hiding the dogs under the brush indicates just that, he was trying to hide something, which is the only thing that sticks out as a bit shady about this to me. But the law is the law, no matter how stupid, and the hunter broke it unless he can prove that the dogs somehow needed to be killed.

shoot, shovel, and ssshhh.
Out in the country its not some one's French puddle named feefee getting in my tulips. Its someone who's dog lives under their trailer houses skirting and every day runs around chasing whatever it wants. After telling owners over and over, and their response is always will try and contain them but their a dog or Ol' Leroy just loves to hunt.
It sad, its the owners problem not the dog. But after so many times of ruining my hunt or running livestock. pew pew. I value my free time.
Can I get a hot tub

Keep your dogs contained and this wouldn't happen. obviously you've never owned a dog
