I have always prefered very small minnows but last year my neighbor showed me that the really big minnows worked better than small at that time anyway..

We normally fish with a pretty good size minnow. Probably about 2" long.

I think to catch a fish, you got to think like a fish. So if you were a fish, and you had a choice of a small minnow or a big minnow, which do you take? I take the big one!! grin

I always use big ones and I'll tell you why. Crappies are almost used to small baitfish and jigs and such. when you stick Moby Dick in front of their nose they eat it quick. Everytime I use large minnows I catch crappies.

I use small minnows in the winter, mediums the rest of the year. I mostly use jigs. In the north were they fish through the ice they use very small jigs 1/64 oz or smaller. In the same areas they use larger jigs in the summer. ~ Crappieslayer
