About time to replace batteries for 36 volt TM. I really don't want to spend %600-$800 for 3 batteries. Don't really want [censored] batteries either!

I watch cabellas when they put their AGM batteries on sale. They do all the time. Normally sale for 239.00 but I get them from 129.00 to 169.00. They last me 6 to 7 years. Walmart batteries 129.00 to 139.00 last three years if lucky. Johnny

When figuring longevity and cost, the best bang for the buck for a standard trolling motor battery is Walmart. I don't recommend running AGMs on the trolling motor. The AGM is great for the Cranking/accessory.

Have had good luck with the wal mart 29s. They run less than 100 dollars at my wal mart. Maybe 99 dollars for the Maxx version and like 84 dollars for the regular version if my memory stands correct.

I just bought some from O'Reillys, I believe they were $89. I can't recall the company that makes their batteries but they are a reputable manufacturer.

First, as a rule the lead/acid of the same size (29's and 31's are the same size, just different post locations, 27's etc.) have a longer RC (reserve capacity) then the AGM counterpart. This means the length of time to discharge is longer. Now, by seat of pants, it feels the agm is not discharging, but that is due to the discharge curve of an AGM. It is discharging and when it runs down, you have nothing -- not a low battery but nothing. Also because of this, you are unaware of the depth of discharge, which reduces the longevity of the battery. Now, add this to the fact that the charging algorithm is different for AGMs than lead acids and you can see (I hope) why I don't like the AGM for a battery that is continually discharged and charged. Thanks for the info. I was curious because so far I get a lot more length out of the AGM. Maybe just lucky because I have never run my AGM down all the way in a days fishing. Thanks again for the Info. Johnny

I have started replacing all my RV and trolling batteries with Exide PX31 batteries. They are rated at 925CCA and have the same warranty as marine batteries and you can find them for less than $70 at most 18 wheeler parts stores. I bought mine at Performance Truck.

I was going to go away from walmart when I had one go bad but there is a walmart almost anywhere you go. I had one go bad on a Fork trip. It had 1 month left on the warranty. Took it in and the way that they had to take care of it was to refund my money and then ring up the new one. I realized that for the same roughly $100, I now had a new warranty. Have stayed with them since then.
